What Causes Discomfort In The Chest And Calf Cramps?

default
Posted on Sat, 15 Apr 2017
Question: I have a few little 'zingers' in my chest recently. Hard to describe. Not palpitations but these skips or tingles that have prompted me to hold it or just scratch it. Have also had some relative tightness seemingly. Today, I have had some strange sensations in my right ankles while walking. And also suffered a serious calf cramp recently while waking up. So severe as to hurt for two days.
Any relation?

Hello!

Welcome on HCM!

I passed carefully through your question and would explain that your chest discomfort and knee pain do not seem to be related to each other.

Both these symptoms seem to be caused by musculoskeletal issues, probably inflammation.

The chest troubles could be also related to anxiety or gastroesophageal reflux.

Coming to this point, I would recommend trying acetaminophen or ibuprofen.

An antiacid or omeprazole would also help in case of reflux.

But, if your troubles persist, I would recommend consulting with your attending physician for a careful physical examination and some tests :

- a chest X Ray study
- a resting ECG
- complete blood count
- ESR and PCR for inflammation.

Hope to have been helpful!

Kind regards,
Dr. Iliri
