Hello ! Thank you for using your question here.
I read your question and i understand your concern .
If he has pain , he should take the medication ,will help.
Meloxicam is a Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) will reduce the pain and inflammation.
Every drug has side effect but does not mean that he will have for sure. (First make sure he has not any kind of allergy for this drug).
If he has any abdominal pain , bleeding , difficult breathing ,dizzines , headache..should go to the hospital.
He can use topical painkillers also .
Use warm compreses, try to massage gently the area if he can handle the pain.
Hope I have answered your question .

Hello again!
Since he had the accident (that fall) and the X-Ray was okay, so it goes more for muscle sprain or tendons injury. The pain changes when you put pressure on it and painkillers make it better (typically muscle pain).
At this age and with a chest pain would be always good to rule out any heart problems by doing an ECG and a physical examinations (which i believe his doctor must've done already).
