Can Monistat Be Used For Vaginal Infection While On Periods?

Question: After a weekend with my boyfriend and I having intercourse my labia were sore and red. I figured he was to rough. The next day I started experiencimg vulva itching which got worse at night. By day three I started having a slight white discharge and odor. Day four I picked up monstat one since I am prone to yeast infections, especially after intercourse. I have and iud, and spot sometimes. Before inserting the medication, I had quite a bit of bright blood, and cramping. I read that you can still use monistat while on your period. After only a couple hours I felt the urge to urinate, and out came neon orange discharge. I've never had this, but I've also never used the medication while on my period or spotting. I'm just really worried now.
