Can Moxifloxacin And Levofloxacin Be Taken While Having COPD?
Question: I was given a script for Levofloxacin 750 mg and my discharge summary indicated moxifloxacin 400 mg - post heart transplant patient - history with COPD - could this be a mistake?
Brief Answer:
Would be better to contact your doctor and ask
Detailed Answer:
Dear Sir,
They both are strong antibiotics from the same group. Moxifloxacin is the last generation, it is stronger and has wider spectrum of action. But from the other hand Levofloxacin is desirable in patients with COPD.
In your case both of them may be acceptable, unless there is specific sensitivity.
Anyway, to be in the safe side I would advise you to contact your doctor and ask.
Take care
