Suggest Treatment For Sore Throat And Cough
I went to the doctor last week for a sore throat and a cough. I was Prescribed Azithromycin 250 mg for 5 days and was told to take Mucinex 600 mg (2 pills twice a day) The medication did not work and now every time i cough my left part of my chest hurts......Im wondering at what stage should I go to the hosiptal...... I went back to the doctor and was just given the following medications *Asmanex Twistahaler *Avelox *Mucinex Should i give this medicine a week to work? When should i begin to be seriously concerned about the left side of my chest? Is this normal with bronchitious or do i have pheunomia?!

Noted your history of having sore throat, coughing, pain on left side of chest, was given Azithromycin, Mucinex and so on. Pain in chest on left side must be taken seriously. First of all:
* Get an ECG done
* X-ray of chest is very important to see for pneumonia, pleural thickening
* Test of blood for white cell count
* Tests of sputum for gram staining and culture sensitivity
Change over to another antibiotic. Symptomatic and supportive treatment to be continued s would be advised by your doctor. Not to wait for the medicines to work, let the investigations be urgent considering chest pain.
