Brief Answer:
Yes there is risk of serotonin syndrome but can be used under proper prescription

Detailed Answer:
Hello thanks for asking from HCM for your health related queries

Phentermine is an appetite suppressant and a stimulant drug. The drug increases noradrenaline and serotonin neurotransmission in brain. Pristiq is Desvenlafaxine and the drug is an SNRI drug which increases serotonin and noradrenaline neurotransmission.

Taking both these drugs together may cause serotonin syndrome so most physicians advise that these drugs should be avoided together. But in some recent studies it has been found that if proper doses are taken under proper monitored supervision then these drugs are safe together and the use is justifiable.

Thanks, I hope this helps you. If you have some uncleared doubts or have more doubts please ask again.

Take care
