Can Primolut-N Be Taken Along With Oral Contraceptive Yaz?
I have a long history of menorrhagia. I have heavy periods as lining of uteras can be thick. nothing abnormal was fond with Ultrasound.
I tried Mirena for 1 year and Depo injection for 3 month.
Now I'm taking Yaz to regulate period . On the 2nd day of my 2nd sheet.
I'm taking Yaz properly but having heavy period with clots. I have to change pads every 1-2 hours.
I'm wondering if I can take primolut N to reduce bleeding as it worked very well when I had heavy period with Mirena.
Primolut-N can be taken with YAZ.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
In this case, progesterone supplement is the MAINSTAY of treatment to control heavy period bleeding.
Norethisterone pill like PRIMOLUT-N can be added with YAZ (combined hormonal pill) to reduce bleeding. It is quite effective and should be continued for few months.
Alternatively, Tranexamic acid group of drug can be combined with above hormonal medication. Take iron rich diet or supplement to combat anemia.
Hope, it helps for your information. Kindly, close the discussion if you don't have any other query.
Wish your good health and take care yourself.

Shall I stop taking PRIMOLUT-N once I stop bleeding? or should I keep taking it for a few month even if my periods become normal.(not too much bleeding)
Best regards
depends on the amount and duration of bleeding
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for follow up query. Followings are my comments:
If your period bleeding is MORE than 7 days in every cycle, you should continue PRIMOLUT-N pill for at least 3 months duration in cyclical manner. It will help to regress thickened endometrium and control bleeding.
Otherwise, you can STOP taking the pill once your bleeding is reduced. You just take the pill for first 5-7 days in that case. However, you should continue YAZ birth control pill after stopping PRIMOLUT-N.
Hope, I have answered your query. Kindly, close the discussion.
All the best and good luck.

Should I take take 2 tablets 3 times a day while I bleed a lot?
and then 1 tablets 3 times a day for 3 month?
Is it the right amount?
Thanks for your advice:)
One more question;
Should I take PRIMOLUT-N while I take YAZ Placebo pills for 4 days?
I wonder if I should stop taking PRIMOLUT-N during YAZ placebo pills to make period come properly.
Thank you so much.
Yes, right amount in this case.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for your additional queries.
1) If your period continues more than 7 days, then you should take 2 tab THRICE daily until bleeding stops (or FIRST 12 days) and there after 1 tab THRICE daily (or NEXT 12 days). It should be taken in cyclical manner for 3 months.
2) You should STOP taking PRIMOLUT-N during YAZ Placebo pill. It will help to get period properly during those days.
Hope, I have answered your query and cleared doubts. Good luck.

(I took 2 tablets x 4times already).
I just started taking tranexamic acid tab 500mg as well.
Still bleeding heavily.
I wonder if I can increase my Yaz pill to reduce bleeding?
I saw some doctors' advice to increase Yaz pill to two or even three per day when heavy period occurs.
I can't see my doctor today.
I really appreciate your advice.
Thanks
Not to increase dose of YAZ. Wait for 3 days to control bleeding.

Hello,
Thanks for follow up query.
Progesterone pill (like Norethisterone) is MORE effective to control bleeding in respect to combined birth control pill. It is quite useful in your case. However, it takes few days (at least 3 days) to get effective result.
I DON'T recommend to increase the dose of YAZ as you are already taking HIGH dose of progesterone pill. Bleeding will reduce gradually. Don't be worried.
Hope, it will help for your information. Good luck.
