Can Prozac Cause Hypersexuality?
Question: Hello. I have recently switched psychiatrists because my old psychiatrist had me cutting meds in half and they weren't supposed to I have a new psychiatrist which I'll be seeing in January. I was taking pristiq lamictal and depakote but wanted to go off pristiq because of the side effects. He put me on Prozac. Now I have hypersexuality. I'm in a state of uncontrolled arousal all the time. My last dose of Prozac was last night. Can I start back on the pristiq today? I also have Celexa if I want to try that. I don't know the hell to do. Thank you!

Although you did not mention about the diagnosis but the kind of treatment suggests that you suffered with bipolar disorder. I may be wrong but use of lamotrigine with valproate and antidepressant is most often used in bipolar depression.
Having said this I feel the add on prozac causing initiation of symptoms from other pole of disorder and hyper sexuality is one among them. Considering this possibility I feel that prozac should be removed and other two medications should be continued. In my both pristine as well as select should be avoided before you see your psychiatrist.
