Can UTI Lead To Pyelonephritis?
Question: Hello, a urinary infection with Enterobacter cloacae sbs cloacae can give rise to pielonephrithys? How serious concern it might be? Thank you
Brief Answer:
yes it can
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for writing to health care magic.
Urinary infection with that bacteria can extend upstream and can cause pyelonephritis .
Pyelonephritis is upper UTI affecting the kidneys.
It's definitely not a minor illness . But can be treated easily with intravenous antibiotics.
Usually treated for atleast 7 to 10 days.
Repeat urine culture after the course to see if it is gone.
Wishing her speedy recovery.
