Can Zoloft Cause Erectile Dysfunction?

default
Posted on Mon, 6 Mar 2017
Question: Hello! I'm a 69 year-old male with a problem achieving orgasm. When I started taking Zoloft (Sertraline), I first noticed this effect. I stopped taking the Zoloft after about two months for this reason and began taking Imipramine (Tofranil), which I had taken for years without any problems. (I stopped using the Imipramine because of steep insurance costs.) Anyway, costs or not, I resumed the Imipramine. At first the failure to achieve orgasm pretty much disappeared. But now, a few months later, it has resumed. I have no problem getting an erection, and I do get "close" to a climax, but most often I do not. I've been taking 150 mg per day. Any advice?

Brief Answer:
adding cialis will help

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for writing to us.I can understand your concern.

Yes you are right that zoloft can cause erectile dysfunction. Considering your age and history of blood pressure problem in sex life is expected. And yes you are taking afluzosin means problem of prostate is likely there. Depression itself can cause lack of desire in sex. After going for imipramine you are somewhat better that is good news. I recommend adding cialis (tadalafil) for improvement in sex life considering overall problem. You can ask your treating doctor about the same and move ahead.
Apart from this one medicine cum vitamin supplement containing pyridoxal-5-phosphate, mecobalamin and l-methylfolate (trade name tetrafol plus or metanex) is very helpful in my patients. It has shown improvement in 50-60% patients of mine with blood pressure and diabetes. You should take it after meal twice a day. If you feel some improvement in 20 days you should continue for at least 2 months. You may get this medicine over the counter as it is vitamin product.

Hope I have answered your query, I will be happy to help further.

Regards,
Dr.Chintan Solanki.
