Brief Answer:
Both drugs are safe to use in seizures.

Detailed Answer:
Hello thanks for asking from HCM for your health related queries

I can understand your concern. A lot of individuals develop seizures after significant head trauma. So most of doctors advise patients to take anti seizure drugs post trauma. Your main issue is poor sleep. Coming to your doubts.

- Yes if even 2 mg Xanax is not working then other drugs like Ambien or Lunesta can help. Both drugs are good hypnotics and have excellent efficacy in early insomnia patients. Ambien is Zolpidem and Lunesta is Eszopiclone. Both drugs are z-drugs and should help in goos sleep. Please take these drugs under proper prescription of your doctor only.

- No you will not have any serious bad reaction. Both drugs result in increasing the seizure threshold and thus reduce the risk of seizures. So no need to worry.

- Please don't remain distressed. Try to relax yourself and ignore any anxiety that is resulting in loss of sleep. With proper medicines your sleep will improve. Please consult your doctor before making any change in drug therapy.

Thanks, Hope this helps you. Please don't hesitate to ask again for more doubts.

Take care
