Can Amlodopine And HCTZ For BP Cause Persistent Cough?

not a known side effect
Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic
There are a group of high blood pressure medications called ACE inhibitors that cause coughing but the medications that you are using are NOT in this family of drugs.
Coughing is not a known side effect of either of these medications.
Chronic cough ( a cough lasting 8 weeks or more) is associated with 3 main causes though there are other possible rarer causes.
The three main causes are: (1)post nasal drip- this is the most common cause. Most persons are aware of the drip however there are some persons that are not and only present with cough
It is normally caused by allergies to some object or agent. Treatment involves avoiding the allergen if known and also the use of topical steroid nasal sprays and anti histamines
(2) asthma- this is a the second most common cause of chronic cough
(3)GERD- gastroesophageal reflux disease- many persons with reflux present only with a cough
You may want to consider the topical steroid nasal spray and anti histamine, if there is no improvement after a few weeks of consistent use your doctor may suggest reflux medications (if there are no symptoms of asthma).
i hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
