Can Anxiety Cause Heart Palpitations?

My question is regarding the following symptoms.
While talking with colleagues in office, sometimes the the chest flutters, there is no pain but it makes me feel very frightened.
The fluttering lasts only for a few seconds or even less than a second.
I have been having this issue for almost 3 years and in the annual medical checkup nothing came out.
Last medical checkup was done in January 2016 without any observations.
I left this issue ignored as the frequency of occurrence was very less 2-3 years back (once in a month.or once in 2 months, don’t remember exactly)
I just have a feeling that it has become more frequent like once in a week.
I have noticed that, this happens only in the office and not while at home.
And it happens usually towards closing of office house – 3.30 pm – 5.00 pm
Could you please suggest any tests to be carried out and advise how to proceed?
This issue gives a lots of stress to me.

Detailed Answer:
Dear
Thanks for contacting Ayurveda with your health concern and after reviewing your history and answers given by other Doctors, I'm of the following opinion:
1. Anxiety is the commonest cause of heart flutter but firstly one should exclude:
. Hyperthyroidism (Thyroid function test)
. Arrhythmias (ECG & Holter monitoring)
. Left Ventricular Hypertrophy (Chest X-ray)
. Diabetes (blood sugar to exclude hypoglycemia)
. Anemia (Hemmoglobin level)
PS. Check with a Cardiologist
2. If pulse & heart appear normal then most important cause will be anxiety and will be managed accordingly.
3. Avoid excess of tea/coffee
. Avoid alcohol & smoking
. Avoid mental strain.
4. Take tablet Stressan or Mentat or Brahmi vati: 2 tablet at bed time
