Can Cervix Be Felt When Having A Prolapsed Uterus?
![default](/r/images/default.png)
Question: Hi...I had written Dr. XXXXXXX XXXXXXX prior regarding a another proplapse I have post surgery for cystocele/rectocele repair. The bulge and urine retention continues 4 weeks after surgery and I complained of this 1 week post surgery. Dr. XXXXXXX advised me that she believes it is a traction enterocele due to scar formation and contraction. She told me to research it on the internet and discuss it with my Dr. at length. My GYN has diagnosed it as my uterus that prolapsed after repairing the rectocele. I saw him last Friday because I discovered a suture string hanging the length of a tampon string. I have also been having a pulling sensation in my pelvis for the past couple of weeks so I thought maybe they were related. As he was examining me he, again, suggested that I had a prolapsed uterus. I said to him "Wouldn't I feel my cervix if it were my uterus?" He replied "Maybe, maybe not...could you hand me the scissors" (speaking to the nurse). He ignored my question. I then asked him if it could possibly be an enterocele. He then proceeded to explain to me what an enterocele is, but didn't answer my question. He has done many things that has caused me to not trust him, so I am trying to get all the information I can before I go back to my PCP to ask for another surgeon. My question to you is, shouldn't I feel my cervix if it were my uterus that has prolapsed? I came home and did a thorough exam myself and felt nothing but a bulge. The bulge has extended as far out as past the opening of the vagina. And, since I'm still having problems emptying my bladder completely could I still have a cystocele? Is that possible?
