Can Chronic Hepatitis C And Cytomegalovirus Be Contracted Through Blood Transfusion?
You need not be worried.
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.
I understand your concerns. Hepatitis C virus (HCV) Antibody testing was already available in 1990 and Nucleic Acid Testing (NAT) in 1999. So, chances are that that the blood was already tested for before transfusion. In such a case I would really not be apprehensive about Hepatitis C infection. Going through the following link should clear your doubts further:

Cytomegalovirus (CMV) is a common virus that can infect almost anyone. Most people don't know they have CMV because it rarely causes symptoms. The symptoms if present, are no more than that of common flu. You only need to worry about it if there is a fresh infection in the first trimester of pregnancy. I do not think that you need to worry about CMV as well.
