Can Deep Tissue Massage Cause A Blood Clot In Arm?
Question: Can deep tissue massage cause a blood clot in your arm?
Brief Answer:
Hi and welcome to HCM
Detailed Answer:
This is not some common scenario, but it is possible, especially in people who have some thrombosis risk such as adipose ones, and those with hypercoagulability disorders, people on hormonal therapy, people with heart and lung diseases. In most cases such clots are not harmful, but if deep main vein is involved then it may lead to serious consquances. Blood clot should be distincted from subcutaneous hematoma which can occur after such massages and is benign. But people with possible venous thrombosis should do ultrasound doppler and check d-.dimers.
Wish you good health. Regards
