Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX Welcome to HealthCareMagic,
I've gone through your query and understand your concern,
Well, the answer to your question is yes, epilepsy does affect your memory.
Now that being said, there are a lot of ifs and buts involved in this, it's necessary to determine the type of epilepsy(focal or generalized), if focal, which part of the brain affected, for how long, intensity as well as the source of epilepsy (primary or secondary) past history of similar complaints and several other factors...
To determine this properly, it's extremely important that you should be examined by a Neurologist in the first place along with a few relevant investigations(to determine the cause behind the Seizures, by MRI-brain, EEG and a few other clinical examinations including tests for both short-term and long-term memories)...
I'm not going into details of all these, as they have to be primarily done by your Neurologist and every person has some unique features which are to be determined clinically, and the management varies accordingly too..
So, in a nutshell, yes, epilepsy does affect your memory, both long as well as short-term, and to diagnose this properly a thorough Neurological examination as well as strict follow-up surveillance needed, as the management is largely individualized...
It's been 7years already, so please go ahead with it without any further delay (it may or may not be due to the medicines, but the disease process itself, that's why thorough evaluation and strict supervision is required)...
Best Wishes
Take Care
Kind Regards
