Can Exercising Effect The Subscap Tear Repair Surgery?

default
Posted on Mon, 27 Oct 2014
Question: 2.5 weeks ago, i had a small subscap tear repaired, as well as the LHB screwed to the bone. (it had fully severed after the subscap injury). I am currently doing pendulums, but am more nervous about the table stretches (mimic raising hand as if in school), because there is pain at the end of the motion. I do not want to ruin the subscap repair. Thanks so much for any advichotmail.come.

Brief Answer:
Stop where the pain starts.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
Table stretches are a safe exercise for preserving the range of motion after a shoulder surgery. If there is a pain at the end of the movement then you can stop just before the pain starts. A pain during the motion means you are overstretching the recently repaired tissue.
You can wait for 2-3 weeks till the healing is complete and gradually increase the amount of stretching so that the movement is painless. You can also consult a physiotherapist regarding it.
I hope this answers your query.
