Can Gastroparesis Cause Excessive Weight Loss?

Question: asking for wife. 65 female, had gall bladder taken out maybe 8 years ago. Now she has gone from 165 to 120 weight in about 4 months, can't eat, hurts all over, will upload all symptoms. been to doctor several times 3 emergency room visits, cat scans, endoscopy, suggests gastroparesis

As per your query answers are-
The primary goal in the management of gastroparesis is to reverse or correct underlying etiologies.So kindly mention the cause of gastroperesis in her case.What did the findings of CT and MRI suggests?
Was she a diabetic?
Did she ever had a stroke?

history of weeds?

Anti depressents like zoloft should not be used in such patients.So please discuss it with your gastroenterologist.

However in case if a definitive cause can't be found despite of all investigations treatment should aim to promote gastric emptying and relieve symptoms. Medications that inhibit or delay gastric emptying should immediately be discontinued, if possible.
Light physical activity after meals can help speed up gastric emptying rates, so RDs should suggest patients take a walk after eating to improve digestion instead of lying down after meals.
Ask her Gastro to add drugs which stimulate the stomach muscles. These medications include metoclopramide (Reglan) and erythromycin.
Avoid all high fiber food like
Fruits – apples, berries, coconuts, figs, oranges, persimmons.
Vegetables - Brussels sprouts, green beans, green peas, lettuce, potato peels, sauerkraut.
Bran/whole grain cereals.
Nuts and seeds.
Legumes/Dried Beans – baked beans, lentils, soy beans.

She would feel much relieved once Zofran 4mg thrice daily is started(its OTC).
