Can I Get Food Poisoning By Touching The Unhygienic Turkey?

Question: tonight when I was cooking ground XXXXXXX I smelled it to make sure there was no odor. I had lifted the nasty paper underneath and it somehow touched my lip. I immediately washed my face....does that put me at risk for food poisoning???
