Can I Have Clarithromycin For Recurring UTI?
Please see explanation for better understanding
Detailed Answer:
Hello sir and welcome.
Thank you for writing to us.
I have gone through your query with diligence and would like you to know that I am here to help. Clarithromycin belongs to a group of antibiotics called macrolides, and are commonly used to treat UTI's (mostly those associated with an STD-origin), but they will only help if your body is susceptible to them, and not resistant.
As you must have heard, read or may know that individuals develop a resistance to certain antibiotics over time for many different reasons, and so you will only respond to the clarithromycin if you are susceptible to it. And unless we check for that using a urine culture and sensitivity examination, we cannot predict that.
You can either go ahead with the above mentioned test or try the clarithromycin to see if it helps suppress your symptoms and treat your infection, that is completely up to you sir.
Please feel free to write back to me for any further clarifications, I am always here to help.
Best wishes.
