Can Clarithromycin And Metronide Cause Tingling Sensation On Face?

I am currently on Clarithromycin, Metronide and Seretide. I have today woken up with tingling down the left side of my face and the cheek muscle feels tight. I had a dental filling on the lower left side 5 days ago which left me with a very sore cheek for about 24 hours. Is this tingling from the dental work, or could it be a greater concern related to the medication I m currently taking please?

Hi,

Clarithromycin and metronidazole are antibiotics used to treat bacterial infections, while Seretide is a medication used to treat asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Tingling sensations and facial tightness can be side effects of both clarithromycin and metronidazole. Additionally, tingling and tightness can be symptoms of a dental infection or nerve damage caused by dental work.

It is important to consult with a healthcare professional if you experience any unusual symptoms or side effects while taking medication. They can evaluate your symptoms and determine the underlying cause. Depending on the cause, they may adjust your medication or recommend further treatment.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Priyanka, General & Family Physician
