Can I Skip Thyroid Medicines For Few Days?

Question: I am on Vacation in Canada and forgot my thyroid medication, what should I do?
Brief Answer:
To get back to your prescribed drug dosage asap.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query on HealthcareMagic.
To get back to your prescribed drug dosages is the best option.
The thyroid medication is prescribed according to the clinical symptoms and thyroid function tests.
A specific dosage of drugs is required.
Thus, over the counter drugs will not help until you have the prescription with you.
Else try to get back to your prescribed dosage at the earliest.
If you have more queries, I will be glad to answer.

I will not be home for 9 days will I be ok that long!
Brief Answer:
If euthyroid, nothing to worry.
Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome again,
I am not aware of your thyroid status at the moment.
However, if you are euthyroid (thyroid function tests within normal limits), a 9 day period without the drug will cause much harm.
Thanks and take care
