I am not on any meds. Mayo clinic took me off of Parkinson's medication. I fall easy so I am using a cane, my eye sight is getting bad and I am getting very slow. I know there isn't a cure, but I hope there is something to slow it done or at least make me feel better.
Brief Answer:
Role of lithium and marihuana is debated.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for writing back, i am sorry to hear about you condition but it's good to know that you are bravely fighting it and you are willing to keep giving a fight.
I asked you about the meds and detail to get to know about the severity and meds you are taking and possible options you have.
Mayo Clinic is indeed world's top medical set-up and i am sure they must have taken their best decision, but you can always get a second opinion from a neurologist or your old neurologist to suggest something for symptomatic relief.
As far as lithium is concerned , it has been advocated by some doctors as a beneficial med in PSP but it's use has been highly debated... because of low tolerance and small toxicity window for lithium.
Medical Merihuana has been advocated by many to relieve symptoms but researchers also claim that this in long run causes further depression of neurological pathways.
Well what ever i said about Lithium and Medical merihuana , is true for most of brain drugs, all brain drugs are more or less toxic and all are subject to contradictory opinions and research results, what you can do is, that you can discuss with your doctors about these two meds plus any other treatment options available at least to slow down progression or control the symptoms at the least.
Mayo clinic have their own protocols of starting or discontinuing meds you can take a second opinion from some other set-up or doctor, they might suggest some other treatment options. Even if they relieve your symptoms by 15-20% it's always better than nothing.
I wish you the very best of luck and hope that things ease up for you.
Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help if not then don't forget to close the discussion and rate it.
Wishing you good health !!
