Can Low Dosage Of Prednisone Be Given To Manage Chronic Lung Disease?
Better to first diagnose the problem.
Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, thanks for your question on HCM.
Prednisolone is corticosteroid. And it should not be given without proper diagnosis and indication.
Chronic lung disease include many diseases like COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease), Asthma, pulmonary fibrosis, bronchiectasis etc.
And all these have specific indication for oral steroid.
Oral steroid is double edged sword. Along with good effects, it has a lot of side effects like hypertension, diabetes, mood changes, osteoporosis, skin lesions etc. So without proper diagnosis and indication, oral steroids should not be started.
So I advice you to consult pulmonologist first and get done proper diagnosis.
Get done
1. Chest x ray
2. PFT ( pulmonary function test ).
Hope i have solved your query.
I will be happy to help you further.
Wish you good health.
Thanks.
