Brief Answer:
AVOID CHEMICAL PRODUCT. WATCH FROM SAFE DISTANCE.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for writing to us. Followings are my comments:
1) Some skin changes take place during pregnancy period like Chloasma, acne,
Stretch marks, increased pigmentation etc. These are quite normal phenomena and can be treated with consultation of
dermatologist. However, make up with chemicals agent and some skin care products should be AVOIDED.
Follow this Basic Routine Skin Care:
a) Cleansing- by moisturizing body wash to maintain essential oils in pregnant skin and promote a healthy glow.
b) Moisturizing and Sun Protection - with at least SPF 15.
c) If your skin is oily or acne prone, then products containing
glycolic acid,
alpha hydroxy acid may be helpful. Topical RETINOIDS or
SALICYLIC ACID is NOT recommended.
2) Nowadays, it is quite IMPOSSIBLE to avoid day to day appliances which can produce non-
ionizing radiation (like television, radio, movie theatre, microwave, long distance telephone etc) and they can cause GENETIC DAMAGE or
BIRTH DEFECT if exposed excessively for long time during pregnancy period.
However, you CAN watch movie in the theatre if you maintain a safe distance (i.e. 20 ft minimum). Additionally, you should stand at least 3 feet away when microwave is running and DON'T sit before computer (most radiation is emitted from the rear) for long time.
Hope, it helps for your information. Kindly, close the discussion if you don't have any other query.
Wish your good health and successful motherhood.

Dr Soumen
