                                    Brief Answer:
Usually advise to wait until heavy cycle is over before running the tests..
Detailed Answer:
Hi my dear,
Usually, the tests for Chlamydia and gonorrhea are carried out after your periods are completely finished. Urine samples are usually taken to run such tests. As you are having a very heavy cycle, I'd advise to wait until it's over.
If other body fluids are used instead of urine, then, no problem.

Can you please specify what type of body fluid you send?
If urine, then, can repeat the testing after heavy periods finished.
Otherwise, everything is ok.

Vaginal swab testing for chlamydia/gonorrhea is fine...
Detailed Answer:
Thank you for your further clarifications.
Personally, I ask my patients to run vaginal swab testing after menses are over (3 days after no blood is present).
However, if your caring doctor has advised to carry on with testing even when on menses, then, follow his/her advice.
Vaginal swab testing for chlamydia/gonorrhea is fine.

                                    Brief Answer:
no,only time of exposure and antibiotics
Detailed Answer:
Hi back,
Viral flu won't affect the results, neither do menses depending on test brand.
Time after exposure and antibiotics use can affect.
However, personally I advise my patients to wait until they're over in order to make my patients feel more comfortable when periods are over.
All the best!

                                    Brief Answer:
Various factors contributing to false negative chlamydia testing...
Detailed Answer:
Actually, this is quite common when a home swab testing is used.
That is also depending on the brand of test kit you use. If it was the same of the last time or another brand.
Furthermore, I usually advise to run a lab examination instead of self testing as I always want to make sure that my patients are really having such STDs.
If you have confirmed by a central lab, then, should repeat testing from that central lab too to see if improvement.
Next, it is true that sometimes, there are some negative testing especially if you did not respect the 2-weeks-waiting rule as recommended after antibiotics intake.
Hope it cleared your mind.
