Brief Answer:
intertrigo

Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

It would be called intertrigo. This refers to inflammation in the body folds.

It can occur under the breasts, in the axilla and the groin region. Any area that there maybe friction (skin folds rubbing ), moisture and heat.

The intertrigo may sometimes be complicated by fungal and/or bacterial infection .

Treatment involves reducing moisture, heat and friction and treating fungal or/and bacterial infection , if present.
(1)separate folds whenever possible eg cotton material or linen when home to keep areas apart
(2)loose or non restrictive clothing when possible
(3)use barrier protection such as a zinc based cream or petroleum jelly or the use of absorbant powders
(4)a short course a topical steroids eg hydrocortisone for 5 days would help reduce the inflammation
(5)anti fungal can be applied as well, this may need to be applied for 2 to 3 weeks in some cases

There are some combination products that may be helpful eg (1) triple paste- this contains zinc oxide, petrolatum and aluminum acetate
(2)greer go-zinc oxide,nystatin and hydrocortisone

You can try one of these to see if it helps your symptoms along with keeping the folds separate and trying to keep as cool as possible

I hope this help, feel free to ask any other questions

Thank you. I will follow your suggestions.

Will this rash spread to other areas in my body?
Is there anything I can do to reduce the redness and itching?

Brief Answer:
can involve other body folds

Detailed Answer:
HI

It would not spread as with an infection related rash but can involve other area such as in the axilla and in the groin region because these are also body folds and there may be heat, friction and moisture here as well

The steroid cream mentioned, hydrocortisone, would reduce the inflammation and therefore the redness and itching.
If this is not strong enough, you may need a prescription topical steroid from your doctor.

Please feel free to ask anything else
