Can Shingles Cause Chicken Pox In Others?

Question: Hi, My daughter suffered two weeks back with chicken pox, now yesterday U found my wife also got chicken pox, now it looks third could be me. Is there any way now to prevent it?
Brief Answer:
Not as such.
Detailed Answer:
I am Dr Anshul Varshney. I understand your concern.
Chicken pox is highly transmitted with close contacts.
Vaccine is available for the protection against it.
However it takes few days to weeks to show it's effect.
Chicken pox infection if you have already contracted can't be prevented by the medicine or vaccine as one already has virus 3-5 days prior to appearance of any fever or blisters.
So, honestly you have no good way out.
However in case, you get saved this time, get the vaccination done.
I hope it helps you.
If you have any further query, please ask me.
