Can Shingles Cause Severe Body Aches?

Question: I am experiencing severe body aches and pains. No fever or cold symptoms. My hands and legs itch. I have been tested for flu but was negative. Also extremely fatigued. Could this be the shingles virus?

Shingles affect a well circumscribed area of the body at any given time. If pain is all over the body, then it can never be shingles. It is almost impossible for shingles to affect the hands and feet at the same time.

For now, I will recommend rest, fluids, healthy diet and tylenol for pains. Otherwise, monitoring to obtain more information and adjust treatment accordingly is the best course. Preliminary investigations have shown nothing worrisome to keep us on our toes.

In all, not shingles. Rest, fluids and tylenol for pains. Update us with any new symptoms for further review and guidance.
