Can Shingles Infection Be Transmitted To An Infant By The Mother?

Question: If one has symptoms of shingles for he last two days and was with a one week old infant 2 days prior to the a rash appearing; can this newborn contract it? I had no symptoms at time of contact with the infant.My email

You can't transmit shingles when you don't have the sores or the symptoms of it. You were with the new born when you were symptom free. So no issues and there is no harm done and no transmission of the disease to the baby.


If there were symptoms and then you had made the baby exposed to the sores, the baby may have contracted chicken pox then.
