Child Experienced First Fever With Seizures Post Hepatitis A Vaccine, Now Persistent Even With Medicines. Treatment?

Question: My son 1 year 15 days wt 10 kg got hepatitys a vaccine and got his first ever fever with seizure.then onwards fever is keep on coming every 4 to 5 hours after applying ibugesic plus and momped alternative.but it is not going .giving sponge in body and head.when this fever will be gone.

Fever may be seen after vaccination but fever with seizure is usually uncommon after febrile seizures may develop seizures with the fever caused by vaccination.

Fever caused by vaccination usually go within 2 days. But if it is persisting beyond this period, child needs reevaluation.

And the seizure episode also needs evaluation.

If the seizure is due to febrile episode , the mainstay of treatment is to control the fever with antipyretics like ibugesic plus in prescribed dose, tepid sponging with lukewarm water during high grade fever, and oral anticonvulsant medication for shorter periods during the febrile illness.

Therefore I advise you to consult your Pediatrician for the examination of the child and to evaluate for the causes of fever and seizure and their management.

Thank you for getting back.

Switch 50 is an antibiotic containing cefpodoxime proxetil.

It is given in suspected bacterial infections which are the causes of fever.

It is given to fight with the bacterial infection and to treat it.

I advise you to be in follow up with the pediatrician till the child improves.
