Child Put Toothpaste In Eye. Will This Cause Any Harm?
Question: My four year old got adult toothpaste in her eye. I flushed it but its really red
Hi XXXXXX,
Welcome to healthcare Magic!
The tooth paste contains high concentration of Calcium and sodium phosphate salts and soap so it is expected to create irritation and redness.
The eye have a nature's protection mechanism of blinking, I hope the child is not exposed with too much and too long.
Flush the eyes with water of normal temperature to flush out the visible paste. Then instill eyedrops (Moisol/Refresh etc.) every four hourly for 3days.
I hope the advise would be informative and useful for you.
Take Care!
