Child With Reduced Serum Ceruplasmin. Raised Levels Of SGOT And SGPT. Normal Ultrasonography

Question: My child's serrum ceruloplasmin is 19.8 mg/dl. His age is 11.5.yrs. his bilirubin is 1.3.
sgpt 100.7 and sgot is 81.5. his KF ring test is -ve and his serrum Ferritin is 35.7
PT test is normal . Ultrasonography is normal.

Just like to know what is the normal range for a child serrum ceruloplasmin for his age???

Hi and thanks for the query.

Ceruloplasmin is a copper binding protein secreted by the liver. It also has an oxidative function.

Normal serum values of cerruloplasmin are between 20-40mg/dl.

A reduced ceruloplasmin is seen in Wilson's disease which is associated with raised SGOT & SGPT.

KF ring comes later and with purely liver involvement it may be absent in up to 15% of patients.

I would advise you to go for 24hour urinary copper test.
