Consistent Heavy Bleeding With Fleshy Discharge, Cramps, Headache & Dizziness, Period Came Late. Taken Norethisterone. Reason Of Continuous Bleeding?

Question: On 14 November my period arrived a week late.
21 days later on the 06/1 2/2011 I was still bleeding with no break I between.
I visited my gp who put me on a course of 5mg of norethisterone 3x a day for ten days.
On day three of the course I stopped bleeding completely but cramped a lot. By day eight I started spotting again.
When the course was complete I started bleeding with a very weak flow which I expected because my GP did tell me I would have a three day period once the course was up.
As the days progressed though the bleeding got heavier with a fleshy discharge, extreme cramp, head aches and frequent spells of dizziness. This is now ongoing.
I went back to visit my GP on the 22/12/11 who put me a course of 500g Mefemnamic Acid for the cramps when required and 500g of tranexamic Acid (two 3x a day for three to five days when needed) to try and stop the bleeding.
It's now day four of the course and it would seem since starting the tablets my bleeding has gotten even worse. The Fleshy discharge has increased in size and the flow of my period is now even faster.
.
I have been referred to a gynaecologist and have an appointment for the 4 th XXXXXXX I am just concerned with my continuous bleeding and wanted to know if there is anything I can do in mean time or if there is reason for concern?
*a pregnancy test has been conducted and results were negative

Hi,
Thanks for posting your query.
In my opinion, you should have to certain investigations like serum beta hCG test, thyroid profile, haemogram and ultrasound of uterus and pelvis to find out the cause of bleeding.
Meanwhile drink plenty of fluids, take iron XXXXXXX foods and fruits and take combination of Trenaxemic acid and Mefenemic acid as prescribed by your GP.
If any time you have excessive bleeding or unbearable pain in abdomen, contact emergency department. If possible try to prepone your appointment with Gynecologist.
I hope, you find my recommendations useful. Please accept my answer in case you have no follow up queries.
Regards.
