Could Spondilytis Cause Shivering In Body?
Question: Could spondilytis cause shivering or feeling of coldness in body? This is regarding my dad who is 65. He kind of passed out. We took him to ER. His sodium level was low so they gave him sodium chloride. He was complaining lack of appetite , feeling of coldness, fatigue yesterday before he passed out for a couple os seconds. Doctor said low sodium does not explain that. He is now home but still has feeling of cold and does not feel like eating any thing. They did all his tests and they were normal. He thinks it could be spondilytis spasm as he had it about 15 to 20 days ago.what could be the reason?
Brief Answer:
No More likely related to Low sodium
Detailed Answer:
Hi Spondilytis is less likely to cause for these symptoms. It generally causes pain.
His symptoms are likely to be related to the low sodium and if he symptomatic unlikely to improve with sodium chloride alone.
May need to be given other treatment. The problem is called Hyponatremia and can be caused by multiple systems in the body
Also work up on what caused low sodium needs to be worked up. How much is the sodium level currently? Please recheck his sodium.

His sodium is 130. The reason for low sodium is he had a prostrate removal surgery and was drinking a lots of fluids to pass more urine. His salt intake is very limited. Doc had restricted his urine intake to 1200cc per day. Why does he feel cold and lack of appetite
