Daughter Not Well With High Temperateure, Temperature Not Reducing. What To Do ?
Thanks for posting your query.
Though you haven't mentioned her symptoms in detail, your daughter seems to have a respiratory infection causing the temperature.
I assume it because she is taking the medications for cough cold and fever.
Your doctor has also started an antibiotic i.e advent which contains amoxicillin and clavalunate which is apropriate for infections with high fever.
I cannot comment on the exact diagnosis without a physical examination or clinical details of her However I assume she has been examined by your doctor and taking the apropriate dosage of medicine as per her weight and doctors advice.
Considering this the first thing you should do is to ensure apropriate dose of the medicines.
The usual maximum dosage of crocin syrup containing acetaminophen is 15 mg/kg/dose every 6 to 8 hourly.Since each 5 ml containing 125 mg thus a dose of 6 ml for a 10 kg child will be apropriate and more may be required for higher body weight .
If the fever is not controlled with maximum dosage of acetaminophen then other anti pyretics containing ibuprofen or mefenamic acid may be started by your doctor.
If after three days of antibiotics and antipyretics there is no improvement in the symptoms of your daughter you might discuss with your doctor the need for confirmation of the diagnosis by
blood tests like cbc (complete blood count), esr, blood smear for malaria , blood culture etc.
As of now the situation is not very worrisome and you can try the following for her relief.
1.Please give her plenty of water and fluids either homemade juices, soups etc or who recommended ors solution for maintaining her hydration and energy.
2.If fever goes beyond 102_103 do start tepid water sponging, wet a clean cloth with clean tap water and wipe or sponge her whole body with it .This prevents high temperature to affect brain or cause febrile seizures.
3.Make sure she has a nutritious diet or sometimes a multivitamin supplement might be helpful.
4.Avoid strenous physical activity and let her take adequate rest and sleep.
If temperature worsens or persists, or she develops any new symptoms like fast breathing, diarrhoea, worsening cough, etc seek prompt medical consultation for starting alternative antibiotics and antipyretics.
Hope that answers your query.
Wishing her a speedy recovery,
Regards,
