Developed Discolouration On Skin And Big Dark Brown Patches. What To Do?

Question: HI, my 13 year old daughter has developed a lot of discolourment on her skin..big dark brown patches
Hi XXXXXXX ,
Thanks for writing in.
The dark brown patches you are describing can be cafe u lait macules, nevus, fixed drug eruption, freckles ,lentigenes etc.
Also I would like to know-
1.Since when she has these patches?
2.Are they symptomatic ?itching /pain?
3.Are these static or slowly growing?
4.Are they raised or flat?
5.Is there any other symptoms she has apart from skin lesions?
Please answer the above questions to help narrow down the possibilities.
Also if you can upload photos of the affected area it will be of great help.
Upload the photos and we can continue discussion here.
I will be available for further follow up.

hello, the patches first appeared a year ago on the bottom of her back, not long after that we noticed under her upper arm it was a huge patch. A month ago another big patch appeared on the back of her thigh, then yesterday another patch approx 3'' by 3'' (which is the smallest patch) appeared on her chest. the dark patches are not raised, do not itch or cause her any pain. she is healthy..if she does get a cold, she becomes very unwell, takes a while for her to get over it. XXXXXXX is fair skinned with freckles. I hope this helps.
Hi again,
Thanks for writing in.
Asymptomatic brown patches can be cafe u lait macules or melanocytic nevi.
Both can cause asymptomatic brown patches.
It would be great if you can upload photos of the affected parts.
Photos can help a lot in predicting the exact condition and advising further for treatment.
You can upload the photos by using UPLOAD YOUR REPORTS section on right side of this box.
Upload the images and we can continue discussion here.
regards
Dr Sudarshan.
