What Is The Cause Of A Black Dot On Hand,and Is It Cancerous?

There is a blackish little dot almost like a freckle, on my hand where the skin is between pointer finger and thumb, I want to say its been there for a week, maybe longer, I fear it may be cancer, its the same size as a little freckle. I know its not a wart because ive had 1 of those as a kid. (I am 30)
