Diabetic, Fasting Sugar Level Is Controlled But Postprndial Is Elevated. Taking Glimestar. How To Reduce It?
Welcome to XXXXXXX Thanks for your query.
Your fasting blood is well controlled.
The optimum may be maintaining below 110 mg/dl.
But your Postprandial blood is very high and not well controlled.
It will be better if you effectively control it between 150 mg/dl to 180 mg/dl.
Good control of blood sugar prevents or postpones diabetes related complication and provides a good quality of life.
Diet plays a major role in controlling blood sugar.
Take low carbohydrate and whole meal with high fiber content.
Medication.
There are 3 approches.
1. Oral hypoglycemic agents alone.
Add Alpha glucosidase inhibitors like Voglibose with every meal.
This delays the digestion and reduces absorption of glucose thereby reducing postmeal value of blood sugar.
2. Insulin alone.
Any blood sugar value of more then 250 mg/dl need insulin to have it controlled.
3. Combination of OHA's and insulin.
Combination of OHA's and insulin can be taken with the advice of the doctor to effectively control the blood sugar.
Hope the answer helps you.

HbA1c is uncontrolled.
Always try to maintain below 6.5 %.
The recommended dose of Voglibose is 0.2 - 0.3 mg with every major meal or three times a day.
you need to continue it till the postprandial is well controlled.
