Question: My husband has diverticulitis, 5 bouts in a yr and 3 since January. The surgeon then saw something on a CTscan,,,turned out he has a hole in his bladder (he went to the Urologist for tests/diagnosis). Is one affecting the other or the cause of the other? He is constantly tired, sleeping sometimes 14 hrs a day, nausea, diahrea and sometimes vomiting.

Hello XXXXXXX
Welcome and thanks for your query.

The symptoms that your husband has like nausea and diarrhea are digestive problems associated with the diverticulitis.Long term disease will cause digestive and bowel problems since the colon is affected. He might even develop IBS,Peptic ulcer etc. That can be managed by medication and surgery.
The hole in his bladder, however,is not related to this. That would cause urinary problems, pain etc.The two conditions should not be related to each other. The tiredness however is unexplained. He needs to be thoroughly assessed for better idea about that.I see that he is a hypertensive so that may be a cause. If he has diarrhea/vomitting the loss of water from the body should be avoided.Add electrolyte drinks to his diet. Some multivimins, iron calcium etc should be helpful.
Regards.
