Do Relaxation Exercises For Anxiety Help In Treating Asthma?

default
Posted on Mon, 6 Jun 2016
Question: Not sure when you will get this but give me your opinion, Ill be waiting to hear from you
I have had a prescription for a corticosteroid inhaler and a emergency inhaler. After reading your texts from a prior conversation regarding stress and airway inflammation, I decided to use the corticosteroid to see if that would help reduce airway inflammation. yesterday I gave a shot of emergency inhaler and took the corticosteroid and the airways opened up quite a bit. tried it again today.

If you and all the other drs are correct and there is no COPD but instead mild asthma or just stress induced inflamed airways, I will keep this program up and see if the relaxed airways will reduce my anxiety levels of not breathing then causing the airways to lessen the inflammation.
So,
Use Inhalers to open airways
Breathe Easier,
Stress goes down
Inflammation goes down or away

So no copd,! Correct?
Inflamed airways!! Yes?
Use Inhalers?
Begin mild exercise program to lessen anxiety and Stress

Brief Answer:
No, you are not having COPD.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic.
Yes, I am here only to answer you.
I don't know why HCM people are forcing me to ask you about closing conversation in previous question.
That was pathetic stuff.
Sorry if you felt bad at that time.
I was not at fault.
So let's forget that thing and concentrate on your current question.
My dear friend, you are not having COPD for sure.
You may have stress induced asthma (?).
Stress is the risk factor in causation as well as precipitation of asthma.
So in your case stress might be the causative factor.
So no harm in taking inhaled corticosteroid. It is best for inflamed airways.
Another likely causative factor for asthma in your case is stress induced GERD.
So please let me know
1. Do you still have GERD?
Please reply me answers of above asked questions, so that I can guide you better.
I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.

If I have active GERD right now, I do not know, I do not sense or feel it. I heard of Gerd induced asthma.

Thanks for the answer to COPD, I figured it anyway from our conversations

Now that i can breathe, my ribs are giving me a bit of sensation when expanding outward. Wierd

I personally feel that it's my moral responsibility and duty to help them when any patient is approaching me. I feel bad when patient don't do follow up or not happy with my treatment. This is the reason I was so much worried about your reply.
Whenever your reply comes, I feel happy and this gives me secure feeling.

I burp often during the day. I have for years. Epigastric pain?, might in my esophagus, but that would be just a little. Otherwise, no.

No need to apologize, emotions are good. I am more comfortable with a Dr who will show some, when they dont, you sometimes get the sense that they just come in to look at you and send you out the door. Not because they are rude but that you are just another file or case that they will treat and then move on to the next in line. I am sure Drs are busy people and dont have time for emotions

Yes, you are right that doctors are busy people.
But I believe in giving respect to the patients and their complaints.
Anyways leave this discussion. We will do it on some other day. Right?
Coming back to your question.
So you are having burping frequently in the day for many years.
This can also be causative factor for asthma.
So please let me know
1. Is burping more after food?
2. Is burping more on empty stomach?

Well as I was reading your reply, I burped. It is morning for me, I have been up for 5 hours. So far, I have had 2 cups of coffee, 1 handful of nuts, and I am slowly eating a cup of yogurt.

So I do not have a full stomach and am burping. I think I burp more on an stomach with little to no food in it.

You should avoid coffee.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your follow up question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.
Coffee contains caffeine. And it is biggest risk factor for GERD and burping.
So you should quit coffee. If quitting is not possible then you should decrease your coffee intake.
And it is better to take small small meals instead of large meals.
So please let me know
1. Will you quit coffee?
2. Do you take large (heavy) meal?

It was prescribed by a pulmonologist 5 years ago. He is retired now.

I have been using it for about a week now.
I had been taking 2 puffs, then yesterday I read that it was 2 puffs 2 times a day
doctor
Answered by Dr. Drkaushal85 (8 minutes later)
Brief Answer:
Better to take newer, long acting, more potent ICS.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your follow up question on Healthcare Magic.
Strange thing. You are taking inhaler prescribed to you 5 years ago.
Did you bought it 5 years ago?
Just check for expiry date.
And it's advisable to take more potent, long acting ICS.
Newer ICS have duration of action of 12 hours. So twice daily dose is sufficient.
Qvar is having duration of action 5-6 hours. So it should be taken 4 times a day.
So better to take newer ICS.
Please let me know
1. When did you consult pulmonologist in person?
2. Did he not advised about newer ICS?

The current inhaler is new, i was prescribed qvar 5 years ago. When I had the pft 4 weeks ago, immediately after i went in for consult. He is not the one who prescribed the Qvar, I suppose he just left them as is because I had not been taking it.
When I was given the initial prescription, it was given for when I felt I needed it. Until recently, I did not realize it might help inflammation go down until 2 weeks ago. So I got a new refill and started using it to see what will happen for the inflammation.

I should contact him regarding a new prescription
