Do Sore Left Calf Muscles Indicate A Blood Clot?

default
Posted on Wed, 20 Sep 2017
Question: I have a sore muscle in my inner outer left calf muscle. Cant remember what i did to cause it to get sore.
Its much better than when i first felt it but it still feels sore.
I read something about blood clots in the legs and got concerned.
Its not swollen or warm and isnt very painful.
It honestly feels like i worked out my calf on the inside near the bone.
How would someone know if they needed to seek medical attention?

Brief Answer:
If pain is persistent then do get it investigated.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
A blood clot is usually associated with an acute pain and swelling that aggravates with walking. A pain in calf due to minor muscle strain usually subsides with heat and mild pain killers in 5-7 days. If the pain persists beyond that then it is best to see a medical attention for proper evaluation.
I hope this answers your query.

Its sore along the inside of my shin at where calf and shin sit running up and down about 7-8 inches. It isnt sore at back of calf or on the main part of the calf. Just sore on inner leg, maybe stiffness with the initial steps as i walk if im paying attention but it isnt very bothersome and it is much less sore than when i first felt it monday.
If i rub on it it just feels like i am rubbing a tender sore muscle area the day after work out.
It also doesnt feel deep but more surface.
I hate to go to the doctor because im a hypocondriac.

Brief Answer:
Seems to be minor muscle sprain.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
The further details do suggest to be a muscle sprain only. Taking rest and a hot compress will help in decreasing the pain.
Hope my answer is helpful.
