Does 1cm Pineal Gland Cyst Cause Insomnia?
Question: I have a 1cm cyst on my pineal gland floating in fluid. Recently I began suffering bad insomnia. Could the cyst be hindering melatonin? My neurologists say no and think insomnia due to stress. I am currently on seroquel for sleep for last 2 months
Brief Answer:
Unlikely
Detailed Answer:
Thank you for posting your query.
I have noted your symptoms and the fact that you have 1 cm pineal gland cyst.
Insomnia is unlikely to be caused by the cyst, as it does not interfere with melatonin secretion.
So, I agree with your doctor that stress may be the cause of insomnia.
I hope my reply has helped you.
I would be pleased to answer, if you have any follow up queries or if you require any further information.

My neuors say 1cm pineal cyst floating in fluidis nothing to worry about done need follow up?
Brief Answer:
I agree with your doctor.
Detailed Answer:
Thank you for getting back.
I agree with your neurologist. Pineal cysts are incidentally picked up on mRI, and they usually do not cause any symptoms. There is no need to worry about that. You may repeat an MRI brain after one year.
