Does Amoxicillin Help In Curing Acne Sacrring?
Amoxicillin not right choice for acne, can be used for inflammatory acne
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for being at Health Care Magic
I can understand your concern but Amoxycillin is not the right choice for treating acne. At the most it can be used if the acne is very inflammatory presenting with many pustules.
In that case it can be taken in a dose of 500 mg twice daily for up to 2 weeks at a stretch.
You can start with topical medication for acne. It is effective in a number of patients without oral antibiotics. I normally recommend my patients to apply Benzoyl Peroxide 2.5 percent gel on the pimples twice daily for at least 12-16 weeks.
I also recommend them to take Tablet AZITHROMYCIN 250 mg 1 tablet daily for 3 consecutive days in a week for at least 12 weeks.
I think these should be available as over the counter in your country.
Besides this ask her to keep face dry, avoid applying oily creams and moisturizers, avoid oiling of scalp, use cosmetics labelled as Non-comedogenic and reduce the intake of sugary foods.
I hope this information is of help to you.
I would be happy to clarify any further doubts.
Regards
Dr Asmeet
No substitute for azithromycin
Detailed Answer:
There is no substitute for azithromycin. You can use amoxicillin in case of severe flares of acne.
Otherwise benzoyl peroxide 2.5 percent gel would be effective in clearing the acne.
