Does Clonazepam Cause Dizziness, Fatigue And Unsteady Gait?

default
Posted on Thu, 7 Jul 2016
Question: I had a stent implanted last XXXXXXX 1. At that time I was put on Plavix and have been having trouble since. I get periods of extreme weakness to the point I must sit down and wait for the episode to pass, sometimes for several hours. I also get extreme headaches. I also take Clonazepam 2 mg per day. Could my problems result from one of these pills?

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Welcome and thanks for your query.
Dizziness is a common side effect with clonazepam and is not uncommon with Plavix. Clonazepam also produces fatigue, unsteadiness of gait and depression all of which may contribute to the extreme weakness you are feeling.
Have you had episodes of migraine before? Plavix can produce bleeding into the brain which can produce severe headache, but that would show up on a CT well and also on an MRI .
Check with your cardiologist as to how long you have to be on Plavix. If it can be stopped and you need to take aspirin only, one possible cause can be eliminated. Take clonazepam at bed time as a single dose. Daytime use gives more side effects.
Do get back to me if you have further queries.
Take Care.
