Does IBS Cause Soft Stool With Abdominal Pain And Discomfort?

default
Posted on Sat, 6 Feb 2016
Question: Hi,
My stool always seems soft and is usually a mound on the bottom of the toilet. I have read that it should be in a s shape tube form. It has been soft for as long as I can remember. I had a colonoscopy in Sept and there didn't seem to be any issues. Should I be concerned or is this normal?

Brief Answer:
Nothing to be worried....

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you for asking!
I read carefully all your concerns and I can say as follows:
You are reporting to have soft stools for all your life.

To my opinion there is nothing to be worried since you don't have bowel movement or stool changes.
Yes it is true that IBS can be associated with soft stools but usually it is associated too with abdominal pain , gas, discomfort.
This is why I think that it is the way like your bowel has worked in all your life and it is not a pathology but normal finding.
Hope it was helpful to you.
