Does Lamictal Interact With Trileptal?
Question: I am on Lamictal 200mg and Trileptal 300mg. My hormone Dr has me on 200 mg of progesterone, but have read my prescriptions cancel each other out. I need to understand how these medications interact with each other. I only take the progesterone days 14-21 of my cycle.

Do you feel for PMDD it's better to use oral contraceptives over progesterone? My symptoms are severe but the web states they will cancel each other 40-60 % with Lamictal and Trileptal. Trying to find an answer for treating depression, anxiety and PMDD. I can't take SSRI's I've tried every one and they make me worse/suicidal. This is all so confusing and frustrating. If only western medicine could be on the same page. The pharmacist stated I would have to double my Lamictal and Trileptal if I went on birth control or used progesterone. If it does diminish levels in the blood, wouldn't that signify needing to augment with a high dose? Trying to fulling understand. Hello Dr.

During my trauma treatment my dr started me on Lamictal and Trileptal to help with the depression and anxiety I was experiencing. I also had on0set PMDD, I would imagine related to dealing with "sexual abuse". The combination of the two has been overwhelming as I have always been a highly successful business woman. In treating these three symptoms PTSD-anxiety and depression, and PMDD what could be the best way to use these medications together. In reading on-line, and also the feedback from the pharmacist, they state they I would need to double my prescription of trileptal and lamictal if I use birth control. If I need to up the dose (if on birth control) I really need to understand that as when I haven't had a full dose I suffer severe side effects. Thank you!

I posed my question to another Dr on this web-site and he was insistent they will interfere and it is not recommended. Hense my confusion and frustration. Leaves me not knowing what to do or how to treat my PMDD. Any other thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
