Brief Answer:
If you have started Microgynon day 1 of your mensus, then you are protected

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to Healthcare Magic.
I am Dr Ramadevi Wani. I will be answering your concerns.

To answer your question, I need to know on which day of your period you started the Microgynon.

If you have started it on day 1 of your period bleeding then you are protected from pregnancy from the first day itself. So there is no need for any worry.

If you have not started on day 1 of your period bleeding, then you are not protected during the first week of starting the pill. So there is a small possibility of pregnancy (since you had sex on the 6th day). I advise you to use emergency contraception. Please note that the earlier after unprotected sex you take emergency contraception, more effective it is.
I hope this answers your concerns.

Brief Answer:
I recommend you to use emergency contraception.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome back.
Since you started the pill about two and half weeks after abortion, you are not protected in the first week of starting the pill.

I recommend you to use emergency contraception.
I hope this helps.

Can i take microgynon 30 4 plus 4 pills after 12 hours instead of plan b. If yes, how effective is this

Answered by Dr. Ramadevi Wani (6 hours later)
Brief Answer:
Yes Microgynon can be used. It is 75% effective. Details below.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome back. Sorry for the delay in replying.
Yes Microgynon active pills 4 now and 4 taken 12 hours later can be used as emergency contraception.
But this is less effective than Plan B in preventing expected pregnancy. It is 75% effective.
Plan B taken within 24 hours is 95% effective, taken within 25-48 hours is 85% effective and taken within 49-72 hours is 58% effective and about 50% effective if taken within 73-120 hours.
I hope this answers your concern.
