Brief Answer:
Information

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX

I can understand your concern. It is ok to take an antidepressant and opiate. There is some association in the pharmacological literature that SSRI antidepressants and opiates together can excessively increase serotonin levels (serotonin syndrome), which occurs rarely - but we often give this combination. There are other classes of antidepressants as well.

You may find, after taking an antidepressant for several months, that you need less of the oxycodone.

However, I don't think your doctor will automatically want to discontinue the oxycodone because you also need an antidepressant.

I hope this information helps. Please let me know if I can provide further information.
